Name:
Spring Break Assignment Junior Honors- Online Literary Forums
Task: Investigate African American Literature individually over break.
Worth: Test Grade Due Date: All posts must be made by April 16th, midnight
Background:
-Forums allow students to have an in depth discussion on literature online.
-Each forum has a series of categories. The categories are four different types of African American literature: Early African American, Harlem Renaissance, Black Arts Movement, and Contemporary.
-Each category will include "threads" which contain either a poem, a video link, a short story link, or a link to an essay, etc.
-The students will be required to read a literary piece and respond to it. In order to do this, the students will write a "post" or "reply" in response to the literary piece. Students will also be allowed to respond to a peer's reaction to a literary piece.
Requirements:
- Every student is required to make at least TEN posts responding to different threads.
- Post twice in at least every literary movement (other posts may be made in any movement)
-Three of the ten posts MUST be in response to a longer form of literature such as an essay, short story, speech, etc.
-There are three types of posts.
1. First post (Required Once): Student posts to a literary piece that does not yet have any posts/comments.
2. Posting to peer: Student posts in response to another student's post, but still reacts to the literary piece on their own.
3. Repost (Required Once no more than three times): Student returns to any thread in which he/she has already posted. He/she will respond to peer's comments.
-In addition to their posts, each student must write a one paragraph final reaction. This reaction should be placed in the final reaction category by the 16th.
-The reaction should answer the following questions:
1. Which literary piece were you the most interested in? Why?
2. Which thread did you find the most productive/interesting? Why?
-Each student should be comfortable discussing any poems or pieces that they read during break in class.
****** If a student is found "borrowing" from online analysis, that student will receive a ZERO for the ENTIRE assignment and he/she will NOT BE ALLOWED TO MAKE UP ANY CREDIT SO THAT MEANS THAT YOU WILL RECEIVE A 0% FOR A TEST GRADE*********
