My favorite literary pieces were both "Phenomenal Woman" and "Shall I Rise" by Maya Angelou. Both pieces truly inspired me with confidence and I love the confidence Maya showed through them. I love their styles of writing as well. They pull you in the way they just roll off the tongue. My favorite thread was the one for the poem "Brown Girl Dead" by Cullen. Marysia really opened up my eyes to the fact that the girl might be sad that she if leaving her life. Also she made me realize that we have to remember all the characters in a piece of writing not just the main ones. In this case I forgot about the mother but she picked up on the fact that she had her daughter's best interests at heart even after life. I enjoyed reading most of these pieces.
