My favorite piece was probably either "Shall I Rise" or "Alone" by Maya Angelou. I can relate to both of her poems. I also really enjoyed Months of Peril, it was an interesting story. I think this was an interesting project because i read alot of pieces that I normally wouldnt have read. It was pretty interesting and I am glad i read another part of literature there is not much exposure about.

My favorite poem of this project would have to be "Shall I Rise" by Maya Angelou. Maya is a great example of confidence and believing in oneself. "Shall I Rise" was, in her own way, a 'look at me now' kind of message to everyone that said she could never be successful. Unlike most people, she never let negative feedback affect her work. Maya Angelou is a wonderful role model for everyone to admire. Overall, I believe this was a very interesting project that provided insight within the great African American poets throughout history. It introduced different forms and styles of writing that I am glad to of read.
