1. I was most interested in Maya Angelou's pieces because they were the most positive and empowering. After reading both "Still I Rise" and "Phenomenal Woman" I felt very inspired. She made me want to feel confident and like i could do anything i set my mind to. I like pieces that i can attach to emotionally rather than pieces that are more factual. The way she wrote was also very lyrical and flowed very well making it enjoyable to read. I liked how she was able to convey simple ideas in an exciting and delightful way. I also think I will end up being able to refer back to these pieces in my own writing later on in life too.
2. I thought that the thread on "Primer for Blacks" was the best thread because there can be so many different interpretations of the poem. It had a very strong feeling behind it that brought people to go in different directions about what the author was so passionate about. The style in which she wrote also made it very interesting to discuss. For example, we discussed which lines meant what and the true meanings behind the words which made it very interesting.
