My favorite piece was "I Too" by Langston Hughes. I enjoyed it because its message was clear and simple. It spoke of how one day everything will change and slavery will no longer exist. I felt it was a positive poem by a slave. Despite all the problems he faced due to slavery he still held out hope for the future. The poem i enjoyed discussing most was "Before you knew you owned it" by Alice Walker. I liked this because I found it interesting to see what other people thought about it. Most people had similar opinions to mine, but Eli had a different idea. It was cool to see that from one poem you can get completely different interpertations. It was also nice to see how some people have the same ideas and were then able to discuss their similar or slightly different views.
