1. The literary piece that was most interesting to me would be "50/50" written by Langston Hughes. It explained how this woman is manipulated by a man forcing her to have sex. As well as, he wanted her to give him all her money. This poem shows male dominance and that it is wrong to take over a woman like that. She has free will and a mind to choose what she wants. All she wants is a loving, caring man that will hold her hand, and be by her side. Yet, the man she is talking to only wants her for money and sex. That is not what a real relationship is suppose to be about. This woman needs to open up her mind and be independent. She needs to pick which man is right for her and not be a necessity for some man's needs. I liked this poem because it shows we all must be equal. Man and woman must be created equal and not objects to gain wealth and pleasure from. We must be equal and have equal love for each other, and we need to share with one another. That is what makes the world a better place.
2. The thread that was most interesting/ productive would be the autobiography "Black Boy" by Richard Wright. I think it is the most interesting because Richard Wright went through so much. He burnt down his house, his father abandoned his family, and Wright even neglected religion. He had no one to turn to inside and outside of school. Richard Wright was a lonesome kid and he needed something to lead to him onto the right path again. He found writing as his passion, and he could write down all his frustrations. He was abused and discriminated and yet he still persevered. He continued to reach his goal on becoming a writer, and that is exactly what he achieved. It is interesting because it shows us that through all our hardships, we can still obtain our goal. We can do whatever we want as long as we set our mind to it and that is exactly what Richard Wright did.
